As the UK finals of the ESL Pro Series at the end of January draw closer, some of the top four players in both games remain undecided.
Counter-Strike: Source has seen an unstoppable performance from Fragmasters Toxic who have first place sealed with 27 points. Undefeated throughout the entire season, they have one match to go against Intex Gaming who are sitting at seventh place with four defeats to their name. Four Kings are in second place with 21 points and one game in hand, followed by Veritas Gaming who have played all ten of their games, and who also have 21 points.
These three teams are certain to get a place at the LAN finals, but fourth place is still anyone's game. Leading the pack is LivingTheDream2k8, followed by Vitriolic Gaming, and Zen and Intex Gaming. For all of these teams a place in the LAN finals would be more than they could hope for when they entered the ESL Pro Series.
In Call of Duty 4 everything is much simpler – at first glance anyway. Team Infused are top of the table with 22 points and their LAN place is secure with seven wins and a draw in their eight games. Reason Gaming are also safe as they are second with 15 points, five wins and two losses, plus a game to spare. Team Sypher and ZeroPoint Gaming are both tied at third and fourth with 12 points. But Team Dignitas is sitting at fifth with four games to play, which could see a change in not only the seedings but the third and fourth-placed team at the LAN finals.
So with the list of attendees close to completion eyes turn to the grand finals in central London at the end of January 2009. And we’ll get to see who can convert online success to offline success in the fight for gold.
