Since Medieval: Total War, the franchise has covered historical conflict from the Roman Empire to the world of the samurai. But in Empire: Total War, it breaks totally new ground. Now you can engage in battle on land or at sea, from the Americas to India. Veterans of earlier titles will have to raise their game. Lessons learned fighting battles with archers and pike men are of no use here. Empire: Total War covers a period that saw rapid technological advancement (think gunpowder) and the corresponding adoption of new tactics.
