The beautiful game
This is not just a game. Football Manager* Live is more like a portal to an alternate reality. If you’re not careful, you may end up playing it for a living – and then wondering why you can’t pay the bills.
Football Manager Live is a massively multi-player online strategy game for anyone who loves football. And computer games.
One of the beautiful things about online games is that they can be improved over time, with all the players benefitting from the improvements as soon as they log on. The other great aspect of online play is becoming part of a community that loves playing a game as much as you do. This is exactly what players of Football Manager Live can expect.
At the game’s core is the match engine. This has been extensively for the past year. During a match, you can view whichever pieces of information you consider most important. Monitor player performance, match action zones, line-ups and any of the other statistical nuggets Football Manager Live keeps track of.
You can train your players to ensure they make the right decisions no matter what situation arises during the game. You can define who will take corners, free kicks and throw-ins.
Want to put a player on the transfer market? Put him up for auction. Other Football Manager Live players can bid for him, based on their perception of his performance over previous games. You can loan players to other managers as well. There’s the Union of FML Football Associations (UFFA), a kind of real world super association with various competitions you can take part in. You’ve even got realistic finance management. Well played.
The best way to find a player is to request a friendly game. Once you have an opponent and agree to a match, there’s a five-minute countdown. During the match, you can chat to the manager of the opposing team while the game records every aspect of play, allowing you – and others – to view it at leisure later. Both players can request time-outs during the match, to cover unexpected occurrences back in the mundane real world.
Football Manager Live has many other qualities but there’s one in particular that’s worth a mention. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a gamer with an Intel® Core™ i7 processor Extreme Edition in a PC or a Mac gamer with an Intel® Core™2 Duo in a laptop, you can play against each other. You’re evenly matched.
If you’re a footy fan and want your team to bring home a trophy this season, this is your opportunity to snare some silverware.
