The Intel/Crysis design contest

The Intel/Crysis design contest

Create the ultimate Crysis*® mod

- WIN the best kit in the world and a day at Crytek Studio!

Now is your chance to pit yourself against game developers from the Crytek Studio. Intel and Crytek are offering prizes fit for any self-respecting geek, in the form of a day at the Crytek studio in Frankfurt, Germany, as well as state-of-the-art PCs and laptops, Intel® Core™2 Extreme processors , latest Intel’s chipset based motherboards and more, to the designers of the best multi- and single-player Crysis mods.

The challenge is to take over the Crysis universe, completely change the scenario and make your own game, which you can thanks to the level editor supplied with the game : the Sandbox2™. This powerful tool enables you modify the existing game environment to your heart’s content, dream up a new scenario, create buildings and customize weapons, armour and vehicles.

You have three options; to create a mod in the ‘single player’, ‘multi-player: power struggle’ or ‘multi-player: instant action’ categories.

How to compete

On 10 March 2008, following intensive deliberation and development, competing players from all over the world have delivered their multiplayer maps to the Crymod web site at icmc.crymod.com, which is part the official modding portal www.crymod.com on behalf of Crytek®. After having the World Wide Crysis® community rating the maps for about two weeks, the top10 rated maps of each game mode are being considered as the finalists.

Lastly, a jury comprising representatives of Intel®, Crytek®, EA Games, 4 Crysis pre-SDK Mod Teams, the major gaming leagues ESL, EAMasters, ClanBase, InCrysisleague and the Crysis Teams [00] and GT will score these maps according to precise criteria (see Mission Orders below) and name the winners of the assignments in each category that are Multiplayer – InstantAction and Multiplayer – PowerStruggle.

The same judging process will be used for ”Singleplayer” maps, but the timetable will be different. Since development for this game mode takes much longer, players who have chosen this category will be given extra time and months, for finishing and uploading their map until 17th of June 2008.

Winners will be announced on http://game-on.intel.com, www.crymod.com, and www.incrysis.com. See the Timetable below and start Modding and Mapping!
